The period building at Mayerhofgasse 8 dates back to 1910 and combines classic Viennese period building charm with exceptionally spacious floor plans. The two vacant apartments, each with approximately 235 m² of living space, were, in just ten weeks, comprehensively revitalized and brought up to a contemporary standard, both technically and visually.
The implementation was carried out by the Asset Management of WALTER REAL ESTATE together with Huber Bau and Tischlerei Andexlinger. The aim was to preserve the historic character of the apartments and, at the same time, to combine modern living comfort with sustainable solutions. Thus, the existing box-type windows were refurbished and the veranda glazing was thermally optimized to sustainably improve the energy performance of the apartments. The entire electrical installation was also renewed, including new fuse boxes and an electrical report. The original panel parquet was carefully refurbished and sealed with a water-based sealant, while the magnificent stucco ceilings were restored. In the bathrooms and kitchens, a complete redesign was carried out with stylish, high-quality equipment, which harmoniously combine design and function.
Period building refurbishments naturally bring challenges that often only become apparent during the ongoing process. We are pleased with the result: Two apartments that preserve the historic character of the Viennese period building and at the same time meet modern demands for comfort, quality, and energy efficiency.
